Patronato mixes since 2008 contemporary jazz with Afro-Cuban and African influences. The band reunites some of the finest Belgian jazzmusicians with some of the best Cuban musicians residing in Benelux. Patronato has built up live experience throughout Western-Europe since 2008. In Belgium, Patronato has played in all major jazz venues: Toots 90, Flagey, Dinant Jazz, Ghent Jazz, Music Village, De Hopper, Archiduc, etc.
The band is an extension from the classical piano jazz-trio, adding a percussionist, much alike Ahmad Jahmal’s quartet and many projects of Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chucho Valdez etc. Patronato performs compositions of Fred Lebeer that are all highly influenced by his research into the rhythmical languages of the latin-american continent as well as arrangements of Cuban traditionals. Patronato plays often in quartet (piano/bass/drums/percussion) but often invites.
